Meet Tia LeBrun

A Candidate for Louisiana’s Future

“I know what it’s like to struggle to make ends meet for my family.”

Tia LeBrun

  • Tia LeBrun was born and raised in Terrebonne Parish as a member of the United Houma Nation. Being the daughter of three generations of working-class service-industry workers, Tia imagined herself working in the same industry as a child. However, she became an educator because her teachers instilled in her the desire to inspire the next generation of Louisianans.

  • Before studying at Louisiana State University to become a teacher, she welcomed her first child into the world. Tia also has a Master’s from UNO and believes that better education will improve economic outcomes nationwide. After graduating with her post-graduate degree, Tia still had to work two jobs to provide for her children. This experience is what drives her to fight hard for those who work so hard to put food on the dinner table and gas in the tank.

  • In her community, Tia served as a member of the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers’ Association (LFLTA) from 2005 to 2017, has been on the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana Board since 2019, and has served on the Louisiana Consortium of Immersion Schools Board since 2016. As LeBrun’s journey as an educator progressed, she was awarded Teacher of the Year (TOY) at Lake Charles Boston High School in 2007, honored as Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s American Graduate in 2015, and TOY of LFLTA in 2016.

  • Aside from her career accomplishments, she prioritizes her family and sees them as her greatest accomplishment. She and her husband share six children, making a beautiful, blended family. She also now has four grandchildren; they adoringly call her Lola.

Tia will work for a Louisiana where her children and yours will have the career opportunities they seek, and they won’t have to move out of state to realize their dreams.
